Your comments, input and ideas are inspiring and will be hugely important as we start planning the next phase in improving Market Place Playground.
Unsurprisingly the most popular theme was greening the space. People want to bring more nature into Market Place – planting; combining the grass area with the playground; adding sand, water, rocks and natural play materials. Some users supported the idea of a community garden or wildlife area. You also requested more trees for shade and for climbing.
A second theme in the responses received was that you wanted any updates to include more social seating, tables and more equipment that allows lots of children to play and create together.
“Market Place Park has provided a vital change of scenery, a chance for myself and my toddler to socialise … I know it’s the same for many others during all lockdown restrictions.”
“It’s a convenient place for hanging out and meeting up for a wide community (of) age groups depending on time of day!”
A final topic raised in our survey about Market Place Playground was, unsurprisingly, kit and equipment. Of the existing kit, swings, cycle circle and the climbing frames come out favourites and the top 3 requests are for more swings, a bigger climbing frame and a zip swing.
