Friends of Market Place were delighted to host Bill Nighy at the Phoenix on Friday 28th April 2023. Guests paid £26 a ticket, of which £25 has gone towards the project fund to transform Market Place Playground. Thank you to everyone who bought a ticket and helped us raise over £6000 at this event. We also owe a massive thank you to the Phoenix for keeping costs to a minimum, and to Drivers & Norris estate agents who covered these costs by sponsoring the event.

Guests enjoyed a welcome reception including an exhibition on play provided by play specialist Phil Doyle. They then then moved into the auditorium to listen to Bill Nighy in conversation with Carolyn Pickles.

Finally guests were treated to a screening of Bill Nighy’s film Living which tells the story of a London County Council bureaucrat in 1953 who works tirelessly with a group of women to have a World War II bomb site redeveloped into a children’s playground.
